Zayaape: Solid-Wood Furniture – Operations and Transparency Details

Zayaape’s Current Operation (Model and Products)

Zayaape is a newly established and small production workshop operating under a Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) model, with sales conducted primarily through our website. We are currently in our first year of building operations. Our product focus is on foundational pieces, including customizable dining tables, coffee tables, bookcases, media consoles, and storage solutions. These items are built for longevity, and customers can use a simple online form to specify basic parameters like overall size, shelf spacing, or finish color before placing an order.

Materials and Sourcing Partners (100% U.S. Sourcing)

The foundation of Zayaape is built on materials. We work exclusively with selected solid hardwoods: Oak, Walnut, Ash, and Maple. This preference is based on the inherent stability and physical characteristics of each wood species. All our raw lumber and components are sourced exclusively from the United States to maintain strict control over material origin. Our network of suppliers includes large-scale providers like Weyerhaeuser, Baillie Lumber, and Northwest Hardwoods; specialized millwork partners such as Frank Miller Lumber and Baird Brothers for custom lumber requirements; and boutique suppliers like Bell Forest and Hearne Hardwoods for figured or unique woods. Furthermore, hardware components, such as drawer slides and hinges, are chosen for high durability. We utilize precision ball-bearing slides from Accuride (U.S.), known for their reliability and smooth operation.

Technical Process and Stability Protocol

Zayaape’s crafting process focuses on material handling to ensure product longevity. The process strictly begins with Wood Acclimation: newly acquired lumber is brought into the workshop and held under controlled environmental conditions for a required period (typically 2-4 weeks, depending on thickness). This is a mandatory step before cutting and ensures the wood’s moisture content balances with the indoor environment, which significantly minimizes the potential for warping and movement post-assembly. The components are then manufactured and assembled using precise tools and techniques, followed by the finishing stage using high-quality protective coatings (e.g., oil or water-based lacquer) to enhance moisture resistance and ease of maintenance.

Absolute Cost Transparency

Our D2C model allows us to offer detailed cost transparency. Instead of providing a single aggregate price, Zayaape’s quotations are clearly itemized into core input cost categories. This breakdown includes the Raw Material Cost (the price of the hardwood calculated by board foot and component cost), the Labor/Production Cost (the cost associated with crafting, assembly, and finishing time), and the Freight Cost (the actual logistics cost from our workshop to the customer’s location). We provide this information to ensure every customer understands the exact value distribution of their investment.
